Last week I recapped part one of Fitbloggin’14, you can check it out here. After going through my pictures I quickly realized I had tons of food pictures. Fitbloggin always has great healthy food options and sponsors that offer healthy samples. Savannah on the other hand is known for their southern cooking, which usually includes foods that are fried or lathered in butter. I personally enjoyed a balance of both and took pictures of it all. Warning the following pictures may make you hungry.
Old Pink House Appetizer:Pulled Pork Sliders w/ ‘Cheerwine’ Barbecue Sauce, Vegetable Slaw & Bread & Butter Pickles. I split this with my husband and paired it with a cold beer.
Jen’s and Friends: Rice Crisy Treats Marinti. This place was so cool. It’s a small little bar but offers over 80 different martini’s. This one was recommended to me and it did not disappoint.
Leopolds’s Ice Cream: Peanut Butter Chocolate chip Ice cream. Leopold’s is a savannah must for tourist. All you have to tell me is ice cream and I’m there. There are lots of flavors to choose from and they even offer seasonal flavors. I saw peanut butter and chocolate so that was an easy choice for me.
Savannah Bee Company: Mead Tasting. Mead has been around since 2,000 B.C. It’s an ancient beverage made with honey and water. The yeast multiply and convert sugar into alcohol. We enjoyed 5 different mead tastings and then bought a bottle to take home. It’s similar to a sweet wine and the honey can defiantly be tasted in some of them.
Some of the awesome sponsors from the conference that kept us hydrated and fueled for the day included Ninja, Quest Nutrition, California Avocados, and California Almonds. Ninja had some very tasty smoothies throughout the day. Health Warrior had chia bars, if you haven’t tried these yet you are missing out. They have various flavors, coconut being my favorite and are very filling. California Avocados made these blueberry muffins that were amazing. They replaced the butter with avocado and you couldn’t even tell. I will be making these very soon.
Giveaway time! Would you like to try some of the Health Warrior Chia Bars? Post in the comment section below what flavor you would like to try. Contest ends Friday July 11th.
