It’s crazy how fast this past year has went by. Before the New Year starts I always like to reflect on the accomplishments I have made and write new goals down. This past year has been amazing and looking back I can honestly say I did everything I wanted to. Some of the highlights include starting my non profit; Generation Healthy Kids, hosting a 5k and becoming certified in Spin.

This year I have a few goals I want to accomplish that I didnt get to in 2013. One is running a Marathon. Ugh that run has been hanging over my head for years. I have to be honest and say I am scared to do this. Maybe that is why I have been putting it off for so long. I mean running 26.2 miles is not an easy task. So this year I am picking a race, paying for it and training!

Before I dive into the goals I have for this year, there are some things I must do first to help me stay motivated. Here are some tips on getting started with your New Year goals.

1. Write them- I think its important to see your goals on paper. Write them down, it will remind you of the goals you want to accomplish.

2. Make a vision board-Make a vision board of different things you want to accomplish or things that will motivate you. You can use old magazines to cut up pictures and words. Put it somewhere you can see it to keep you motivated everyday.

3. Set a date- Setting a date on accomplishing some of your goals will help you stick to it. Deadlines will motivate you to get it done.

4.Pay for it-If there is a race you want to run, pay for it in advance. You will be more likely to run it, because you don’t want to waste money.

5. Live a little-Setting goals and accomplishing them is hard. Things won’t be perfect, but have fun and never give up.
