If you have been following me on Instragm and facebook you have heard me talk about the training I am doing for my half marathon in January. This will be my 3rd half marathon, but my first time really training for it. I have a running background and can get away with little running  in order to finish a race, but this time is different. The half is a short term goal, but my long term goal is a marathon. So I have decided to train! If I am going to tackle the marathon beast, I will have to it the right way. I am learning a lot about training and have my top 5 must haves to share with you.

1.Proper Shoes- Having proper shoes is key. I don’t know much about training for a half marathon so I went to Fleet Feet in Mount Pleasant and was fitted for the right shoe that best fit me. They were amazing and took a lot of time with me, making sure I found the perfect fit. They even let me test run a few pairs. The shoe I went with was Izumi Pearl. They are comfortable and pretty!

2.MapMyRun App- Oh I love this app. It tracks your miles, splits, calories, workouts and routes. You can even add friends to help with motivation. My friend Kim told me about it, and is really motivating me. As you run it shows you a map, which helps when you get lost like I did once!

3.Energy- I am still trying to figure this one out, but have been eating these little gems. Yum!

4.Compression Socks- Well because you will look cool when you run 🙂 But seriously, they are tight fitting socks that apply pressure to the legs to help improve the blood flow. Since my calves sometimes cramp these have been helping out.

5.Music- Without music running would be boring. I usually make a playlist or listen to FITRadio.
